Kenneth P. Corpus
Ken has a very strong background in electronics and computers,
starting at a very young age. His first experience with computers
was in 7th grade, where he had to utilize IBM punch cards to generate
programs on a big mainframe computer at Rome Free Academy high
school. During Junior and Senior High School, Ken was very active
in the field of electronics, installing car stereos, repairinig
televisions, wiring telephone and cable tv, etc.
From 1979 to 1981, Ken attended Mohawk
Valley Community College, in Utica,
NY, to obtain an Associates degree in Electrial Technology.
Upon graduation in June of 1981, Ken was hired by Xerox
Corporation in Rochester,
NY, as an electronic technician on the 1075
Copier program. Ken attended night school parttime at Rochester
Institute of Technology, and in 1987 obtained a Bachelor
of Science in Electrical Engineering Technology from the College
of Applied Science and Technology. Shortly thereafter, Ken was
promoted to an engineer to develop the service documentation for
the Electronic Subsystem of the new DocuTech
high-speed digital printer. As an engineer, Ken gained experience
in many product areas such as customer and service documentation, systems
testing, product specifications & requirements, systems engineering,
service strategy & requirements, field engineering and technical
support.
In 1980, Ken became interested in personal computers, as a direct
result of working on a digital scanner product which is now incorporated
into the product known as DigiPath.
The DigitPath system was based on a PC, and utilized the Windows
platform. In order to troubleshoot the product effectively, Ken
taught himself the DOS and Windows operating systems. Later, Ken
taught himself the Windows NT Server platform as well.
Since then, Ken has obtained training on several Microsoft
Windows platforms, and has become a Microsoft
Certified Professional. He teaches CompTIA A+ classes at the
Center
for Workforce Development at Monroe
2 Boces in Spencerport, as well as several other computer related
classes at local libraries and continuing education locations. He
also teaches a very unique course called "Build Your Own PC"
where students are taught the step-by-step process on how to build their
very own computer.
